WisDOT's three proposals
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has put forward three concepts. Of the three, the boulevard concept is the strongest starting point because it makes room for a more walkable, people-centered corridor.

What's next
WisDOT is expected to hold a public information meeting in late 2026 or early 2027. We will share details here as soon as they are announced.
Build a Better Boulevard
We support WisDOT's boulevard alternative as the right concept — and we want to make it even better. Our coalition is helping create and advance a vision that reduces lanes, slows traffic, and designs Stoughton Road as a truly walkable, people-centered place.
Fewer lanes
Reduce the number of vehicle lanes to calm traffic and reclaim space for people.
Walkable design
Wider sidewalks, safer crossings, and a street that invites walking and rolling.
